The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Overview
- Role: Designer
- Duration: 1 Month
- Platform: Moblie and Tablet Website
This was a project that was assigned to me during the semester. I first took a look at the original site. AOL was once a big deal but over time they have barely survived which has led them to take on ads. The problem we found was that their site was outdated and needed a refresh in design.
What I did:
Research
I wanted to have other opinions on this so I didn’t just use my designer's eye to make it fair. I wanted to make this easy for the user since that makes a great site. I spoke with 2 people and asked them many questions on their opinion of the site.
Sketches
With the research I gathered I decided to organize the content in a way that made more sense. I also wanted to make sure that there were still ads and affiliate links to benefit the owner. I did a majority of the sketches on mobile since it is best to always start with mobile. I just adjusted the tablet navigation to condense the number of pages.
Wireframes
I kept true to my sketches with how I would organize my content. I got feedback for my tablet wireframes I should try to find a way to make use of the space that I had. I have not worked with a tablet frame in a while, so trying to figure out a layout by moving elements and resizing was a challenge.
Surface Comps
Thankfully with building the surface comps it was simpler because I could see clearly what I wanted with my images and ads. With the color scheme, I decided to stick to similar pinks. I did deepen the color of the buttons because one of my interviewees had difficulty finding the jump to recipe button due to its light grey color. For my images, I stuck to the theme of yummy chocolate chip cookie pictures.
Resolution:
I am pleased with the outcome of this project as it demonstrates my commitment to ensuring a seamless user experience through thorough research, while also maintaining the robustness of the business aspects. This endeavor has deepened my understanding of proficient tablet frame layout techniques.
